I am a British expat now Australian citizen and immigration lawyer based in South Australia. I’ve worked in law for over 22 years, starting my career as a UK police officer in 2001.

Having found my niche in Australian Immigration Law, I was honored to be included in Doyles Guide’s list of Leading Immigration Lawyers 2022 and 2023, being a list of lawyers who, based on Doyles’ independent research, consistently draw the praise of both clients and peers.

I established Wren Legal to provide a contemporary and superior service; bespoke and straightforward Australian immigration law advice, tailored to the unique needs of the individuals and organisations I advise.

I began my career as a front-line police officer in the UK. A few years in, I also embarked on a four-year law degree. After over seven years as a police officer and having graduated Law with honors, in 2007 I took a break and travelled around the world for 12 months. I visited 11 countries, including Australia, where I bought a van and spent seven months driving the circumference, leaving Sydney in January 2008 and arriving back there in July.

On my return to the UK, I left the police force and attended law school full time before starting work for a multi-national law firm, based in their Manchester office. My role was to advise a major police force in the UK, regarding malfeasance claims brought against its police officers.

However, I couldn’t stop thinking about beautiful Australia. So, in 2010, having researched ways to live and work here and applying for and being granted a permanent visa, I emigrated to Adelaide.

I was subsequently admitted to the Supreme Court of South Australia (2012), the Supreme Court of Western Australia (2013) and the High Court of Australia (2021).

Since starting my professional career in the lucky country, I’ve worked as a senior investigator for various government agencies (including the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA), the Department of Environment and the Department of Planning, Transport & Infrastructure), practiced commercial law in both private practice law firms and in-house for a prominent global technology company and advised one of Australia’s major defence organisations on its compliance with the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (United States).

I have also presented on professional misconduct issues and trained government investigation and forensic interview techniques.

I returned to private practice in 2020 and began practicing Immigration Law. Utilising my commercial acumen gained over my 22-year career, I provide commercially focused immigration advice to organisations who wish to hire the best overseas talent. Using my experience as a police officer and investigator, I advise on sensitive and complex immigration issues, such as obtaining/retaining partner visas following the end of relationships and visa cancellation/citizenship revocation due to involvement in serious offenses.
